Safety action · practical sequence

Leave first. Decide what to record second.

Blocking limits future contact inside a service. Reporting asks the service to review conduct. Neither action can retrieve information you already shared.

SHORT ANSWER

End the session when you feel unsafe. Block unwanted contact, report conduct that violates rules or threatens others, preserve relevant evidence lawfully, and contact local emergency services when danger is immediate.

Control names and exact report steps must be verified in the live product before publication.

Choose the action

Block and report solve different problems

Use block when you want to stop or reduce contact from a person. Use report when the service needs to review harassment, threats, impersonation, sexual exploitation, fraud or other prohibited conduct. Often both actions make sense.

Do not remain in a harmful exchange to collect a perfect case. Your immediate exit matters more. If the person knows where you live, threatens imminent harm or shares illegal content, the situation may require local authorities or a specialist hotline rather than only an in-product report.

Leave
Stops the current exchange.
Block
Limits future contact through the available product account.
Report
Sends conduct for platform review; an outcome is not guaranteed.

Preserve only what helps

Keep context without spreading harm

Save the username, date, time, relevant messages and transaction details if doing so is lawful and safe. Avoid forwarding intimate material or prohibited content to friends for opinions. A written note can preserve context when taking a screenshot would capture someone else’s private information.

If money was sent, contact the payment provider quickly using its official channel. Change a reused password and enable stronger account protection if credentials were exposed. Do not pay a second fee to someone promising to recover the first loss.

  • Record the account identity shown in the product.
  • Keep the smallest amount of evidence that explains the conduct.
  • Use official support, payment and law-enforcement channels.
  • Never share a verification code with a supposed helper.

Set expectations

A report is information, not a safety guarantee

A report may lead to review, restriction or no visible action. Privacy rules can also limit what a service tells the reporter. Blocking may not stop a person who creates a new account or contacts you elsewhere.

Reduce the paths available to them: review connected accounts, remove public location clues, and tell a trusted person when a threat follows you outside the product. If you meet offline, use a separate safety plan rather than relying on a profile or past chat.
