FIELD GUIDE / 01

How one-to-one
matching works.

There are a few decisions between finding this page and speaking with someone. Here is the route as it is configured for SoMatch.me, with the limits that a landing page should not hide.

Before you begin: make one small choice

SoMatch.me is for adults who want a one-to-one conversation in a browser. The invitation is intentionally simple, but a simple invitation should not blur the practical steps. You may need an account before matching. Voice and video can ask your browser for access to a microphone or camera. Some access may be limited or paid. Reading this guide needs none of those permissions, and it does not place you in a live conversation.

Start by asking what kind of contact you actually want today. If you are in a shared room, have limited data, or want a pause before answering, text is a sensible first mode. If you have a quiet place and want to hear tone, voice may be more comfortable. If you want face-to-face contact and are happy with your surroundings being visible, video may suit you. There is no prize for choosing the most exposed option. The text, voice and video guides cover each format in its own right.

Think about boundaries before you connect. An opening question about music, a meal, or a small part of someone's day is enough; you do not need to give your full name, location or social account. A new contact is still a stranger, even if the first exchange feels easy. If you want a reminder of what to keep private, read the safety guide and return when you are ready.

01 / ENTER

Enter matching without guessing what a tap means

The homepage button opens the product's matching entry route. The current match version has a dedicated start page that presents the available matching types. It is a product screen rather than an immediate guarantee that a person is already connected to you. If you are not signed in, the product may ask you to sign in first. That prompt is part of the access flow, and it should be visible before you expect a call or message to begin.

It is reasonable to pause at this point. Check that your browser address is somatch.me, look at the mode choices, and decide whether you want to proceed. You should not have to enter a card number merely to understand which modes exist. Nor should a landing page promise anonymous access when the real product can require sign-in. A browser may remember an earlier session and take a returning visitor farther than a new visitor; that difference does not mean an account is optional for everyone.

The route also has a practical distinction between arriving at the entry page and starting the matching process. A button can bring you to the place where you choose how to connect; the actual match depends on the next action and current product availability. We describe those stages separately so a visitor does not mistake “open matching” for “a person is waiting right now.” If you are simply comparing services, you can stop here and keep reading without granting camera or microphone access.

02 / CHOOSE

Choose text, voice or video for this conversation

The current matching entry presents three types: text, audio and video. They lead to different kinds of interaction and different device needs. The screen can change as the product develops, so treat the live choice you see as authoritative. The useful question is not “which mode is best?” but “which mode gives me enough connection without sharing more than I want to share today?”

Text

Text lets you think before answering and gives the other person the same room. It is quieter in a public place and does not need a microphone or camera. Written tone is easy to misread, so a direct question and a little patience help. Text can be a complete interaction, not a trial run that must become a call. The interface may handle free counts differently for text; we do not promise a free entitlement here without a confirmed backend rule.

Voice

Voice makes laughter, hesitation and warmth easier to notice while keeping your face off screen. It works best when you can hear and be heard without sharing private background sounds. A microphone permission request is expected when the voice mode needs one. If your surroundings are noisy or you would rather edit a thought before saying it, choose text without apologizing for it.

Video

Video adds facial expression and body language, but also shows your room, clothing and background. It needs camera and microphone access, a stable connection and a little more energy. Take a moment to check what can be seen behind you. Seeing a face is not the same as verifying an identity. If the person or the moment feels wrong, you can leave; video does not create an obligation to stay.

In the current product flow, choosing a type moves from the entry screen into a matching screen for that type. The values used internally differ between route and service requests; visitors do not need to manage those details. What matters to you is the label on the live screen and the permission or price it actually requests. Our links above explain the social trade-offs more deeply than a small selector can.

02B / DEVICE ACCESS

A permission prompt is a choice, not a formality

Text chat should not need your camera or microphone. Voice can need your microphone. Video can need both the camera and microphone. A permission prompt comes from your browser or operating system and should correspond to the mode you chose. The homepage and this guide do not request either permission. If you see a camera prompt while you are merely reading, stop and check the address and the action that triggered it.

Allow access only if you want to use that mode now. You can deny a prompt and choose another way to communicate; you may also need to revisit browser or device settings later if you change your mind. On some phones, a previous denial at the operating-system level will prevent a browser prompt from working even after you tap “allow” in the site. That is a device-setting issue, not evidence that you must keep tapping the button. A calmer route is to check the browser's site settings, then your phone's camera or microphone settings, and retry once.

Permission also does not prove safety. Granting camera access makes a video session technically possible; it does not verify the other person's identity or promise that a conversation will be private. Think about what your background reveals and whether someone nearby can overhear. If you are uncertain, text is a reasonable way to begin while you decide what to share.

03 / WAIT

What happens while matching is in progress?

After you start a type, the product enters a matching state. The current match flow can look for a person, receive a match event, and then move into a text room or a voice/video call depending on the type. Those are separate technical stages. A matching animation or an illustrated face is not proof that a live participant has accepted a call. We do not publish an average wait time because we do not have a verified sample that would make such a number useful to you.

Availability can vary with time, account conditions, network connection and the type you selected. If a match does not appear, wait for the actual product response rather than assuming a decorative animation means success. If you change your mind, use the visible stop or back control. Leaving a matching screen is different from hanging up an established call, and the interface may need a moment to close the pending request. Avoid repeatedly opening parallel tabs to force a result; that can make state and device permissions confusing.

When another person is connected, start with a small, ordinary question. “What made your day a little better?” may open more naturally than a demand for personal details. Give the other person room to decline or change the subject. A match is a chance to talk, not a promise that the conversation will be mutually interesting. If there is no fit, you can move on without turning the exchange into a judgment of either person.

03B / COST

Check the access rule and price at the moment it matters

The product can show a free matching allowance for some account and mode combinations, and it also has paid packages. The exact number of free opportunities, what counts as usage, and whether a call needs credits can depend on the current account and backend configuration. This guide cannot responsibly turn a changing balance into a universal promise. The entry screen and checkout should tell you what is available to your account now.

Before buying, look for four things: the amount and currency, what you receive, when the benefit can be used, and whether any condition limits it. A large package is not automatically a better decision. If you are trying a service for the first time, you may value a smaller commitment even when a larger pack has a lower unit price. Our pricing explanation helps you understand the choices, while the live checkout remains the source of current terms. If something is unclear, close the purchase screen and resolve the question before paying.

Keep payment inside the verified product flow. A person you meet should not need your card details, a bank transfer, a crypto address, or a one-time code to “unlock” a conversation. That kind of request is separate from a legitimate checkout. If you see an unexpected charge, use the merchant name on the receipt and the relevant payment provider's record to identify which service billed you. SoMatch.me cannot support purchases from an unrelated app with a similar name.

04 / YOUR EXIT

Leave, report, or choose another conversation

Once a conversation begins, you are allowed to end it. A simple “I am going to go now” is enough when the interaction is fine but not for you. You also do not have to announce an exit if someone is harassing you, pressing for private information or making you uncomfortable. Use the product's visible exit control. Depending on the mode and state, stopping a pending match, leaving text, and ending a live call can be different actions, so follow what the current screen actually labels.

If conduct crosses a line, use report and block controls where available. Describe the behavior rather than guessing a person's intent. Save only the information that is safe and necessary for a report; do not distribute someone else's image or contact details as retaliation. A report can help a service review an interaction, and a block can limit contact from an account, but neither can take back a password, address or payment you already sent. That is why keeping the first exchange light matters.

You can choose a different mode next time, or decide that a one-to-one format is not what you wanted today. A useful social product should allow that without manufacturing urgency. For practical ways to say no, change subject or leave, read the safety guide. If you still want to talk, the next conversation can begin from a more informed choice.

CHECKED / NOT PROMISED

What this guide can and cannot verify

This guide reflects the current match-version entry flow reviewed for SoMatch.me on 22 September 2026: a matching start page, text/audio/video types, mode-specific permissions, matching state, and account-specific access information. We also checked the existence of live payment packages during development. We have not claimed to have tested a live conversation with every device, region or account state. We have not measured average wait time, verified the identity of participants, or independently evaluated moderation outcomes.

If a future interface changes the order of a step or the wording of a price, the live product should take precedence. We will revise this guide when a checked flow changes and mark a meaningful update date. Our editorial standards explain why we distinguish our own observations from claims that need more evidence. We would rather state a limit clearly than have you learn it at a checkout or during a call.

If the route still feels suitable, open matching with one modest goal: have a conversation. You can choose text to begin, use voice or video when the setting feels right, and stop whenever you need to. The strongest first step is usually the one you understand.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

Begin with the mode that feels right.

A first conversation does not need to prove anything.
