Let your voice do some of the talking

Voice chat carries tone and timing without asking you to appear on camera. It can feel more immediate than text while keeping the visual part of your day private.

Good to know

Voice requires microphone permission. A browser prompt grants device access for this site; check your browser and operating-system controls if you want to change it later.

01

Choose a setting where you can listen

A voice conversation works best when you can hear the other person and speak without sharing the room with an audience. Headphones can reduce echo and protect the conversation from nearby listeners. Before entering, close other apps using the microphone, check the selected input device and move away from a fan or loud street if you can. Those small steps matter more than sounding polished. You do not need a perfect setup; you need a setting where both people can understand each other.

02

Give the first minute room to settle

Voice removes the editing time text provides. Pauses happen. An easy beginning is to say where your energy is: “I’ve had a long day, so I’m here for an easy conversation.” Ask one open question and listen to the answer. If you miss a word, ask again without apology. If language or accent differences make understanding hard, slow down and switch to a simpler topic. Do not assume a quiet moment means the conversation has failed; some people need a beat to become comfortable.

03

Microphone permission is a deliberate step

The browser should request microphone access when you choose voice, not when you merely read this page. Grant it only if you want a voice session. If the prompt does not appear, or the call is silent, inspect the browser’s site permission and the device’s microphone setting. A Bluetooth headset can be connected but not selected as the input. Try a short local microphone test before assuming the other person or service is at fault. Never install an unknown extension or share a verification code to “fix” an audio problem.

04

Keep the exit simple

You can change your mind about speaking. Say that you need to leave, then end the session. If the other person pressures you to reveal your identity, switch to video, or continue after you decline, you can stop without negotiating. Report or block if the conduct crosses a line. A good voice call feels like a conversation you chose, not a commitment you cannot leave.
